Beyond Borders: The Extended Remix
This is the Extended Remix of my chapter for the forthcoming book Beyond Borders: Articulations, Provocations and Performativities in Art(s) Research, edited by Dr. Jacqueline Taylor and published by Routledge.
Originally drafted back in 2019, this piece has since evolved, reshaped by institutional shifts, pedagogical experiments, design practice, and my own re-entry into the art world. It’s part academic reflection, part design provocation, part experimental publishing.
The chapter explores Practice as Research (PaR) through the lens of the porous university, transdisciplinary thinking, and institutional critique. The remix goes further, unfolding process, remixing form, and embedding speculative visual research within the writing itself.
Think of it as a 12" version of the track, the long play, the one for the dancefloor, not the radio.
This isn’t just a document, it’s a testing ground. For ideas. For interfaces. For what academic publishing could become when it’s allowed to bleed into art, design, and play.
